Barry Hoeven

Barry Hoeven

Barry Hoeven is an avid businessman and real estate entrepreneur, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 1998.  After diagnosis, the Hoevens soon realized the lack of funding going into kidney cancer research and other orphan cancers.  As a result, few medical breakthroughs had been made. The new understanding was the driving force behind the decision to form Kure It and the effort to fund innovative research.  Since then, Barry and his family have been fighting an ongoing battle with cancer, both personally and on the research front.

Kure It has raised more than $1,000,000 since 2007, which has gone directly to cancer researchers.  Contributions from Kure It have helped oncologists study new treatments and the basic biology behind these treatments, in hopes of finding the cure to kidney and other orphan cancers.

In addition to creating Kure It, Hoeven is the President of Westport Properties, Inc. and US Storage Centers, Inc.  Westport Properties is a real estate development and management company that owns, through affiliated entities, or manages self-storage properties under the brand name US Storage Centers.  There are approximately 45 self-storage and other commercial properties in six states, representing three million square feet.

Barry Hoeven has over 30 years of real estate experience, with a heavy emphasis in all aspects of self-storage and business park development.  His prior work experience included various senior level positions with Public Storage, the Irvine Company and the Colliers-Seeley Company.

On top of the work he does with his companies, Hoeven is involved with other organizations in Southern California, including those that support children and career development.

He is a University of Southern California graduate, having received a Business Degree, with an emphasis in finance and marketing, and an MBA in the Entrepreneurial program at the institution.

He and his wife Cinda have three adult children and reside in Newport Beach, CA.
