Kure It Ends 2013 with a Big Milestone

Inching ever closer to founder Barry Hoeven's goal of raising $1 million a year for underfunded cancer research, Kure It ended 2013 by passing the $2.5 million mark in funds raised. After reaching the first million in October 2011, the second million came in late August 2013. "It took four years to reach our first million, less than two years to get the second, and in four short months, we are already halfway to the third million. We are excited for what this means - more frequent grants for research into underrepresented cancers,"  said Hoeven.

A big reason for the recent acceleration in fundraising is the newly-created Rivals United for a Kure campaign, which brings together the football fan communities of USC and UCLA to raise funds for research at each school's cancer center. The Spring of 2013 saw the awarding of $150,000 each to USC Norris and UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Centers, with an additional $150,000 expected to be awarded to each school in 2014.

The national self storage industry continues to play a key role in Kure It's success, with support coming from owner/operators, vendors, and tenants alike.
