Sora Park Tanjasiri, DrPH, is our primary investigator for our Kure It Cares Initiative, read more about her below:

As a professor in the UCI Department of Epidemiology and the associate director of Cancer Health Disparities and Community Engagement, Sora Park Tanjasiri is committed to reducing health disparities among diverse populations, particularly Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. She draws on her extensive experience as the principal investigator (PI) or co-principal investigator on more than two dozen extramurally funded cancer-related studies.

In her role as the PI on a recent study funded by the Bristol-Meyers Squibb Foundation, “Optimizing Access to Cancer Care for Asian Americans,” Tanjasiri aimed to increase access to cancer specialty care for low-income Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese adults in Orange County.

As a co-PI on “Weaving an Islander Network for Cancer Awareness, Research, and Training” (WINCART), a U54 Community Network Program Center funded by the National Cancer Institute, she focused on reducing disparities in cancer incidence and mortality among Pacific Islanders in Southern California.

Her research has been published in many prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Public Health, Journal of the American Medical Association, Health Education & Behavior, and Health Promotion Practice.

In addition to conducting high-impact research and teaching, Tanjasiri serves as an advisor to numerous nonprofit organizations, including the Orange County Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance, St. Joseph Health System Community Partnership Fund, and the Orange County Women’s Health Project.

She received her DrPH in community health sciences and her MPH in behavioral sciences from the UCLA School of Public Health.
